Oliver: Three Months

Untitled

Untitled

three months!

This little boy!

He is my favorite little boy. This month he started doing wonderful things like sleeping through the night (!) (probably short-lived, but pssh who cares) and giving us big gummy grins and doing super push-ups on his play mat. He's been batting at toys and loves looking in the mirror. He doesn't laugh yet but he makes plenty of little happy noises, including this weird croak-y sound (I call it a pre-laugh). Mornings are his happiest time, and they're still the best part of my day because I love when he wakes up and smiles at me like, "Hey! It's YOU!! You're still here!" I'm here, sweetface, and I'm not going anywhere ever ever ever.

Taking his monthly photos is fun but interesting because of the whole can't-sit-up thing, so we have about twenty seconds before he slumps over and we have to stop the whole operation and prop him up again (which you can tell from the chalkboard smudges-- when we were done the back of his head and onesie were covered in chalk). But the cuteness! The cuteness is worth it.

I'm looking forward to so many things, like making him laugh. I can't wait to make him laugh! We went on our first stroller walk over the weekend and it was a big hit, with him babbling to himself the whole time like he was trying to talk about everything he saw. We've taken him on walks in the Ergo before but he would just fall asleep, so it's nice to be able to show him things. A couple months ago we were so nervous about how you're supposed to just leave the house and do things with a baby coming along too, but it's much less scary now. You just leave the house and do things, but the baby is there too! Who knew.

  1. LOL, I wouldn't have noticed the smudge marks unless you mentioned them. That's so funny! He's growing up so quickly, super cute!! Thanks for sharing :)

    1. Aww of course! :D It's funny because at first I kept trying to fix it, but by the end I was like OH WHO CARES IT ADDS CHARACTER HE'S ONLY THREE MONTHS EVERYONE KNOWS HE CAN'T SIT UP. Ahaha.

  2. Eeep! Such a cutie! :) I can't believe how big he's getting... I have two more months until my baby girl is due, and admit I'm already getting a bit sad about how quickly they grow. hehe! I love your thoughts about how easy it is to get out of the house with an infant; being "stuck" at home for long periods is probably my biggest fear of being a mom. But lots of my girl friends are telling me it's a lot easier than I think. :) lol.

    1. Ahhhh only two months!! I'm so excited for you!

It really isn't that scary at all! We were nervous the first couple of times, because you just think oh man what if he cries what do I bring what if I forget stuff and then when you're out it's really no big deal at all, haha. We haven't taken him to a restaurant yet though, but that's more because our parents are really eager to watch him for any reason at all so we haven't needed to yet. But anyway yeah, it's fine! And if you use a sling/carrier it's especially easy-peasy because you don't have to lug around a stroller.

(PS I hope I didn't scare you away before with my giant email, ahh! I tend to have giant rambly emails)

  3. He's so cute! I've been taking weekly pictures with my little one, in a chair. For me the challenge has been to get a picture before he starts crying - he doesn't like sitting up. Yeah for baby walks. We took Milo out for the first time when he was just 4 days old, we didn't really have a choice as we both needed to go to the bank together. I've been out loads but I'm looking forward to him being big enough to see things when we're out when he's big enough to sit up.

    1. Yes the stroller walks are awesome! It's great that he's so interested in everything now, it makes stuff so much more fun.

I wish I had started weekly photos when Oliver was born! At the beginning of the year I started a 365 project (I take so many of him anyway that it really isn't too much of a stretch, haha) but I just keep wishing I had started it from day one. I think daily/weekly/monthly photos are all such a cool thing to have.
