To The Sea

I'm so happy to be back in Wilmington, it's really kind of ridiculous. The other day we went to the beach in the evening and it was so lovely that I practically exploded from excitement on the way home. Of course I've lived here before but I never really appreciated it then, and now that I'm older I realize how nice it is to live in a place that has the beach and the river and plenty of things to do. Even though I'm not a beach-during-the-hot-day kind of person, there's something about going there in the evening and breathing in the salty air, seeing all the lights from the tourist shops and restaurants and all the brightly-colored houses and realizing that I can go there any time I want. I got really excited and started talking about how wonderful it would be for us to get bicycles and ride around during the evenings, and it would be such a nice place to take the dogs for walks.

I knew immediately where I wanted to go to take pictures, which is this section of trees at Fort Fisher that are so twisty and beautiful. While walking around them I was kind of reminded of Lord of the Rings, I only wish I had put together an outfit that was more flowy and elf-like. My sitar dress will have to do.
