This week has been all about finding the best places in Albuquerque for sunrises and sunsets. Monday we went to on the Sandia Crest Byway-- a scenic road that goes up a mountain-- to watch the sunrise. You can see the pictures here (I fell in love with this set and didn't want to crowd the post, but they're gorgeous too!) It was freezing and the wind knocked me sideways a few times when I jumped out of the car to take photos, but it was awesome and beautiful and memorable.
Yesterday I found the best park-- the Elena Gallegos Picnic Area, which is at the foot of the mountains and faces West towards the city. It's appropriately desert-like (and huge!), which I've been looking for, and the view at sunset was beautiful. I think I've finally found my go-to park for Albuquerque. I never used to be much of a landscape photography person, but since we're just here temporarily I want to remember everything.
Also, someone should tell you that sometimes there are small hidden cacti in all that tall grass and that some plants may LOOK innocent, but they're actually very spikey and mean. I'm just sayin'.

Thrifted vintage coat (way too big, but one of my favorites to just throw on over anything)
Thrifted dress & skirt
Thrifted shoes
UO tights
disco bracelet from a vintage shop
PS: I know some of you had problems with Disqus (and I did too), so I got rid of it and returned to normal Blogger comments. Sigh! I long for threaded comments with no complications.

That desert is pretty! Especially with the snow and clusters of bushes. The desert areas around Las Vegas are mostly just rocky and completely devoid of vegetation. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteWow such pretty pictures especially love the second last one :)
ReplyDeletegosh your pictures are always so beautiful, and I am in love with your vintage but classic and simple/practical style <3
ReplyDeleteErica: I was so happy to find this pretty park-desert place! I love it. Everything else looks woefully dead.
ReplyDeleteGreen Tea & Cupcakes: Haha Jeremy says thank you- that one was his favorite.
Annebeth: Aww thank you a bunch! :D
The minute I saw the cacti I thought, "Hey is she in NM?" And then I scrolled down and saw the pics of Nob Hill. :) I must say, we have some of the best sunsets ever. Hope you're enjoying the great southwest!
ReplyDeleteHM: Hahaha, awesome! Yep, I really love it so far. I loooove that park, and yes the sunsets are probably the best I've ever seen!
