Not a girl scout at all
This is such a default-favorite dress.
There is no acceptable excuse for my lack of blogging lately, but the laziness of the heat combined with my recent hair drama have been good enough reasons for me. I finally cut out all of the black but then it was too short; next I decided to lighten it a little myself, failed massively, and had to hastily grab some corrective color from Sally's. I'm such a dweeb! I had plans to go blonde soon (with the help of a pro!) but I've abandoned such ambitions because I'm tired of my hair being a crazy, confused mess. I longed for the days when my hair was one color and actually looked nice with my skin tone, so I went dark again. It totally looks black right now but isn't, honestly! Sigh. I feel much better having dark hair again-- I think I was meant to have this color, even if it isn't exactly what grows out of my head.

When I first found this dress I assumed I would fill it up with vintage girl scout badges, but I never did. Instead I've created a little area with lots of my DIY vintage charm pins.

Vintage girl scout dress
DIY vintage charm pins
Sock Dreams socks
Seychelles heels
Wooden rose bracelet
Also, we've had a new puppy adoption in the works for a while and he finally came home a few days ago! Please meet Georgie Bat, the Italian Greyhound. We call him George and he is a crazy energy ball. Thankfully Weetzie seems to approve!

Shabby Apple dress giveaway!
I promise outfit posts will pick up soon, but until then I have a lovely little treat.
The kind people at Shabby Apple would like to give away a dress to one of my lucky readers, and I picked my favorite: the Oh La La dress. This sleek little number is stripey and A-line and very out-for-the-day in Paris.
All you have to do is leave a comment below. You can earn up to two more entries for tweeting about the giveaway or linking back to this post on your blog.
I'll randomly choose a winner nextSunday, June 27 Monday, June 28! This is (unfortunately!) open to US residents only; an international winner would have to pay for shipping.
Good luck, my darlings!

DIY-apolooza

Target tank tops
Hue tights
DIY converse
vintage disco bracelet
thrifted necklace-as-bracelet
impromptu cutoff shorts
gnome necklace, dollsandmolls
Sorry for the lack of posts lately-- we've been having a very unwelcome heat wave and I haven't been motivated to do much dressing up.
I have been working on my Luna Lovegood costume, though, and so far I'm progressing nicely! I finished her shoes last week; I couldn't seem to find that particular pattern online so I just bought white converse and did them with sharpies. They're darker overall than the real pattern but I'm really happy with how they turned out. This week I'll be finishing up her crocheted bag and starting the radish earrings. (This is all for the Harry Potter convention I'm attending in July, by the way!)

Double the fluff

Just a quick outfit post on a Friday morning.
I got the idea of layering dresses and skirts from Rebecca, who always does it so beautifully and creatively! Also, I have a ridiculously small amount of tops and it seems like I never have anything to wear with skirts. Wearing my little Alice dress underneath gives it a little extra floof.

Birthdays all around
Thursday was my mom's 50th birthday and my dog Weetzie's 2nd, so I took a two-day trip to my parent's house and had a joint party for them! I made my mom's favorite fudgey chocolate cake and dog-friendly cupcakes for Weetzie to share with our parent's dogs Jasper and Gizmo.
This was my party dress:

I thrifted it a while ago and took it in about a billion sizes. As far as outfits go I know it's pretty boring, but it was super humid and I hardly ever dress up very much when I travel. I'll get a better picture of this dress some other time because it really is fantastic! I was convinced while I was altering it that those were sitars printed all over the dress, which made me think of George Harrison, which made me call this my George dress. But then I realized they were lutes. That should tell you how much I know about musical instruments.

Peanut Butter Doggy Delight Cupcakes

I was afraid the cream cheese might cause some tummy upsets among the group, but everything was fine and they loved them. If you want to see more of Weetzie, I'm about to upload some new photos to my Flickr!
