Things I want for summer

Before I'm off to Florida, let me leave you guys with a wishlist post of much-needed spring/summer things!

Right now I'm in love with the shorts and tights combo-- any shorts and tights, but mostly denim/navy and sheer black polka dot (probably because Rhiannon pulls it off so effortlessly!) Every time I see an outfit post with shorts I remind myself to go on a special thrifting trip for them, but I keep coming back empty handed. I must find the perfect pair soon!

Brightly colored oxford flats! I especially need something silver in my life.

Vintage '80s Emmanuelle Khanh -- Angel Eyes Sunglasses

I don't have a good face for sunglasses so it's always ridiculously difficult to find a good pair. Usually I go for oversized pairs because that's the only shape that seems to work on me, but this year I'd like to try something round and colorful (like that gorgeous purple creature above).

Since the Etsy shop has been woefully neglected, I'm planning a big update and sale when I return next week! ♥

A Maude (and Harold!) kind of dress

Here are better pictures of that little gray dress from the last post! I love the cream belt and pleats. It has pockets, which I love because it makes it poof a little. I wasn't planning on buying two dresses in that boutique-- I already found two (clearance!) dresses from Urban Outfitters earlier in the week-- but they offered a $25 off coupon for $50 or more and what can I say? That's how they get you. Plus it was my birthday, so I was justifying it all over the place.

Also, as of this week I AM FINISHED WITH LIBRARY SCHOOL! I can hardly believe it and I don't really know what to do with myself. I do know that I've been job hunting since December with no luck (which was expected-- I know it takes forever) and have decided to let myself take a break after graduation. I've never really had a break from worrying since starting college-- I went from undergrad to grad school to worrying about jobs, and it's been so stressful and ridiculous and I just want to enjoy life for a bit. And I'm one of those hyper-worriers, so big decisions really don't come easy for me. So, break time! I definitely still want to be a librarian, but I need to wait until I feel ready before I start job hunting again.

But still, yay graduation! We're driving down to Florida on the 29th so I can be at FSU in person on the 1st. My parents can't come, but FSU is webcasting the ceremony so they can watch it that way, which is awesome. I'm so excited about seeing some of my Florida friends for the first time in ages.

Sweet dreams, jellybean.

To make up for being gone so long: bonus pictures!

New Orleans was magical, like always! I didn't take as many photos as I should have, and only got two acceptable outfit shots, but I still had a lovely birthday. I don't usually eat fried food very often but we ate a ridiculous amount of it last week, and you can tell my body wasn't used to it because I got puffier and puffier as the week wore on (hence the lack of photos). Last year I was in love with a mime, this year it was a living statue guy-- he had on a long wig and makeup and kind of bent over and hung out of a gold portrait frame. It looked like he would be so sore at the end of the day. Of course I was too nervous to photograph him, so now he exists only in my mind. And probably still in the French Quarter.

As witnessed above I managed to acquire a fuchsia sequined top hat, which is obviously necessary for life. I also did tons of shopping; I bought two dresses at a little boutique from the nicest salesgirls in the world. Honestly, I know it's their job to be flattering and friendly but they didn't feel fake at all, which is rare in boutiques! I got a little structured gray dress with a cream belt that I'm wearing above (better photos of it later this week) and a springy, zip-up flowered thing.

croissant d'or patisserie

This is the best bakery on the planet, I'm convinced of it. We ate almond croissants for breakfast (again with the puffiness) and they had chocolate domes--I'm kicking myself right now for not photographing them, but I ate mine too fast! It was the most amazing chocolate mousse dipped in ganache. I'm hyperventilating just thinking about them.

Peter Pan hair!

I love it! But the color is driving me cuckoo-bananas, it's so uneven. If I can get through the next couple of months all the black should be grown out, but it's hard not to give in and dye it. I'm so happy to have super short hair again!

pixie cut

This outfit is so comfortable, if I substitute the tights for leggings it could quite possibly be my perfect flying outfit. We're going to New Orleans (again!) next week for my birthday and of course I just can't wait to get there. I know we should go other places-- we've been to New Orleans every year since 2007-- but I love the city so much and couldn't think of anywhere I would rather spend my 25th (!!) birthday. So yay, nola birthday for me! I must get through my final school project, and then it's time for bloody marys and happy-hour oysters.

Recent thrift loot!

romper, '60s dress

Last week I was able to dig out from under my sudden mountain of schoolwork to take a quick trip to the thrift store, and look what I found! A little '60s wool dress and a perfecto denim romper. They're both in such great condition-- I almost fell over when I saw the dress, just hanging out, like it was nothing special. And it's so SOFT!

Of course it's already gotten to warm to even think about wearing it, so I think I'll just put it up and think nice thoughts about it until fall. Although I have a feeling the romper is going to be getting loads of mileage this spring and summer, oh boy.

And speaking of rompers-- would anyone like to buy a Dolce Vita Sequined Romper, size small? I just bought it from Gilt and it's gorgeous and sparkly and just what I wanted, but too big and non-returnable because it was a final sale. Brand new, $57 plus $10 shipping, international buyers welcome (and I'll reimburse if the shipping is cheaper). Email me: pansylanelove at gmail dot com! MWAH!
