At one point a few ducks tried to casually infiltrate my area.

And my nail polish! It's Absolutely Alice from OPI's new Alice in Wonderland set. This isn't the best picture-- it's actually quite a bit darker.

So far I absolutely must have a full size bottle of Absolutely Alice and Mad As A Hatter.

Walk, walk fashion baby~

My favorite collections from fashion week have been full of pale yellow, spring-y colors and weird tights. It's making me even more excited for warm weather to stick around.

I need those red tights in my life immediately!

Shiny tops & soda pops

Please excuse the dirty floor and paint-spattered walls. This is what happens when one little room is used for gardening, painting, and outfit-photo taking.

70s wool dress from Etsy, Target tights, Delias oxfords.

I bought this dress on Etsy last year, tried it on and felt frumpy, then promptly threw it in a pile to be hemmed. It stayed in my sewing room for a year (as things tend to do) until I tried it back on last week to pin it-- and loved it just the way it is! Funny how that works. I still feel a little like an old fashioned teacher of some sort--or maybe Marcia Brady?--but whatever, I love it. It's so lovely with its little buttons and snaps and harlequin print. And it's super warm too!

Grr!

Lately I've been thinking about how important it is to invest in quality pieces instead of stocking up on tons of cheaply made things. I especially need to do this with shoes, but I just get so excited and ridiculous about them.

Love love love.

The other day I was looking through vintage Valentine's Day cards and this was my favorite out of sheer weirdness:

From here.

How does this communicate that you love someone?! Good grief. ;(

Now that I've bummed everyone out, here are pretty pink cupcakes:

I used this recipe for the multicolor look along with the whipped cream frosting linked underneath. Yum! I was going to make sugar cookies, but I tend to have bad luck with dough-related things. I didn't think the layering was going to work out-- at one point my piping bag exploded and it was very messy and near-disastrous!

This weekend was spent curled up inside as it actually snowed outside. What! I was lazy and didn't take any frolicking-in-the-snow pictures, but it was very nice to look out and see a few inches of snow covering everything. The south kind of shuts down when it snows, so we weren't exactly in a hurry to go anywhere.

Oh and follow my blog on Facebook, please! I only just set it up so it looks very sad without any followers.

Happy one year anniversary to me!

(Cupcake image from Google!)

Today is my one year blogging anniversary. One year! It's strange, it feels like it hasn't been that long at all and also that I've been doing it forever. I want to say a big giant THANK YOU to my readers and to everyone in the style blogging community! You guys are amazing and have always been incredibly sweet & accepting. I want you all to know how much I appreciate every single comment. Thanks so much for making my first year so insanely fun!

For the upcoming year I have some fun ideas-- first of all I have a few layout changes, yay! I also want to incorporate more things that I love... book reviews/recs every now and then, librarian news, apartment style, that kind of thing. Sometimes I have an urge to post something but worry that it's too off-topic or won't be interesting to anyone, and I should cut that out!

Things have been slow lately due to a death in the family (my other grandma) so I've been out of town for the last several days. Going home tonight, job interview tomorrow, and hopefully some sort of normalcy will return by Valentine's Day!

Snip snap.

First of all, this week's lack of outfit posts are due to my husband and I marathoning Lost in our pajamas like a couple of crazy people.

Right, so. Hair! I need a change. I've been thinking about chopping it off for a while now, but good hair days and compliments always draw me back into bob-love-land. It's still my favorite haircut in the whole wide world, and I'll have it again some day (because I kind of feel like this has become my default style) but it's time for it to go!

I'm thinking of doing it at the beginning of March. New season, new hair, fresh start, right? Honestly I'm just tired of dying it. I want to chop it short and give my natural color a shot at life, so I'll need to grow my roots for a bit.

I blame these darling ladies; the more I look at them, the more I feel the urge to chop!

Mia Wasikowska (Alice from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland):

Mia Farrow and her famous cut:

Michelle Williams:

And my personal crush, the completely ridiculously adorable Carey Mulligan (that's Sally Sparrow to fellow Whovians!):

(All photos taken from google)

I've had my hair super short before and loved it, so I'm not nervous about having a weird shaped head or anything. The scary part is seeing how I'll look with my natural color! It's supposedly light brown/dark blonde, but I haven't seen it since.. oh, middle school? Ahh!
