To make up for being gone so long: bonus pictures!
New Orleans was magical, like always! I didn't take as many photos as I should have, and only got two acceptable outfit shots, but I still had a lovely birthday. I don't usually eat fried food very often but we ate a ridiculous amount of it last week, and you can tell my body wasn't used to it because I got puffier and puffier as the week wore on (hence the lack of photos). Last year I was in love with a mime, this year it was a living statue guy-- he had on a long wig and makeup and kind of bent over and hung out of a gold portrait frame. It looked like he would be so sore at the end of the day. Of course I was too nervous to photograph him, so now he exists only in my mind. And probably still in the French Quarter.

As witnessed above I managed to acquire a fuchsia sequined top hat, which is obviously necessary for life. I also did tons of shopping; I bought two dresses at a little boutique from the nicest salesgirls in the world. Honestly, I know it's their job to be flattering and friendly but they didn't feel fake at all, which is rare in boutiques! I got a little structured gray dress with a cream belt that I'm wearing above (better photos of it later this week) and a springy, zip-up flowered thing.

This is the best bakery on the planet, I'm convinced of it. We ate almond croissants for breakfast (again with the puffiness) and they had chocolate domes--I'm kicking myself right now for not photographing them, but I ate mine too fast! It was the most amazing chocolate mousse dipped in ganache. I'm hyperventilating just thinking about them.

<3!

Oh my goodness, I can't even BELIEVE that hat right now! And also, you two are cute. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Croissant D'Or IS the best bakery on the planet. ;) (Cash only, though)
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit shots and your boutique finds. I'm addicted to French Quarter Boutiques, myself, since I work in the Quarter.
Glad you enjoyed your trip here!
I loved the Croissant D'Or when I went! I had some kind of a sandwich (can't remember what) but it was so freaking good. Good thing I went there on my last day, otherwise I'd have eaten there every day.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful time! And to be honest, I don't know how you functioned for so long WITHOUT a sparkly fuchsia top hat! :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! I'm glad you had a good trip. :) AND BIRTHDAY! You look gorgeous and like you belong there forevers. (Also, not to be a stalker, but I've done pipe-dream vacation window shopping and am pretty sure you stayed at the hotel that's up highhh near the top of my DREAM-PLACE-TO-STAY list, right by that little bakery! But shhhh, secrets. What are the odds, though.) That's a ramble email for another time.
ReplyDeleteYour entire trip sounds like so much fun!! :D New Orleans must be such a cool place to be!
ReplyDeleteAlso, both of your UO dresses have been on my "to buy" list foreeeever! They're both so pretty! :)

P.S. I'm giving away a dress on my blog if you'd like to enter! ;D
very pretty. sounds and looks like you had a good time :-)
ReplyDeleteJeeze that hat is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I looooovvveeee your new haircut!! It looks so cute and elegant on you, so perfect.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! What better way to spend a birthday (and celebrate your final school project! Are you done with library school now??), in a city you love with the one you love! Yikes, I'm incredibly cheesy this morning.
Love the hat pics. ^^,
ReplyDeleteI'm dying a little from that hat! You are sooo wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat hat is amazing!
ReplyDeleteyou are sooo cute in all these photos! adorable. i know what you mean about puffiness, when i came back from spain i'd had far too many churros and bombons, i felt the same haha.
ReplyDeleteIsabel: Thank you! And omg yes right? I want to wear it everywhere, even if it's terribly inappropriate.
ReplyDeleteTere: Oh how neat, and thanks!! I'm still having withdrawals from it, although I really didn't need to be having breakfasts of croissants and chocolate domes for more than three days. :p
Kat: Ahh yes!! That's so great that you've been. That green and white tile on the floor and on the sidewalk outside is the exact same as the tile in my little painting room upstairs.. I feel like that's a sign of some kind.
Jen: Right!? :D
Phoebe: <3 <3 <3!! You could never be a stalker with me, this is normal phoebe/hope behavior. :D
MissKellie: Oh it's my favorite place! And that purple dress is on clearance right now, I got it at the UO store while in nola! So now is totally the time to get it. My blue Alice-y dress was also on clearance but all they had were the pink ones!
Diane: Thank you! :D I love this new hair. And yes I don't think it's cheesy at all, it's totally true. And I AM done with library school now, how strange!
Rebecca: Aww thanks! <3 The hat makes me so ridiculously happy.
Helen: Haha EXACTLY! I got puffier and increasingly tired-looking as the week went on, but gosh all that food was good.
