(Ahh, my roots!)
Vintage Laura Ashley coat: thrifted Dress: Jovovich-Hawk for Target Tights: Hue Leg warmers: Sock Dreams Mary janes: thrifted
Today we braved the cold long enough to take a few outfit photos at the river. This velvety little kid's coat is one of my absolute favorite thrift finds! It's a bit too swingy to wear with everything, but great for little above-the-knee dresses. I feel strangely romantic in this outfit.. kind of lacey and velvety and delicate. Like I should go on a carriage ride if I didn't despise them so much (those poor unhappy horses!)
Rose ring: shop in New Orleans

I love this outfit! It seems to romantic, like you pointed out, but also sort of dark, slightly gothic.
ReplyDeleteOh this is so pretty! I love the lacy, feminine dress and that gorgeous coat! What a find. You look lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely. The pictures are almost wistfully romantic. Like waiting by the sea for sailors. I like how you layered leg warmers over the tights.
ReplyDeleteOMG that coat is so so divine! And that dress is so stunningly dainty! It goes you all so well! Also glad you're updating again :D
ReplyDeletegirl you're so creative :D you have many more talents than library stuff ;)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is awesome. You've hit it out of the park with the velvet coat + lace dress pairing! Soooo pretty.
ReplyDeletethe coat is lovely
ReplyDeleteVelvet and lace = love. Beautiful outfit.
ReplyDeleteI love your coat! Great pictures :)
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Laura Ashley made coats but now I want to track one down! That one looks even better than old Rothschild ones, and I love the simple colors you're wearing. The coat and the Jovovich Hawk dress were made for each other!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I've been obsessed with dark swing coats and winter-white lately, the details here are dreamy.
ReplyDeleteThat dress reminds me of a vintage Gunne Sax dress. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteHello there! We've never met but I love your blog! I happened upon it through your apartment therapy home entry and liebemarlene vintage. Not to freak you out, but I actually am a vintage loving, antiquing, dress-lover myself. I actually live in New Bern also, and one of my favorite pastimes for years has been thrifting at the local antique stores and goodwill (not to mention salvation army). Just thought I should give a shout out! :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable outfit. All the pieces go together and make a romantic, almost nostalgic look. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you guys so much! You're all so lovely. ♥ ♥
ReplyDeletePoppyseed Vintage: Haha that's so awesome, and thank you! :) My favorite thrift store is about to close at the end of this week (Helping Hands) and I don't know what to do with myself! It was a goldmine. D:
Oh no! Where is helping hands located? Historic downtown? I'm devastated that I never even knew it existed and now I will never get the chance to explore! :'(
ReplyDeleteI love your coat; such a nice contrast too with the creamy lace.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is great! I love the legwarmers.
ReplyDeleteAnd your blog seems pretty cool too, keep up with it :)
