Vintage dress, '70s granny boots, Target socks
In celebration of Beatles day on 9/9/09 (remastered catalog and Rock Band, yay!) I've decided to dress somewhat appropriately. This is one of the dresses mentioned in my last post: all flowy and bohemian, with poofy arms and a little bow. It was originally about calf-length and kind of swallowed me, but my rudimentary sewing skills managed to come through in a pinch. I'm not used to such a high sleeve-volume level!
Something about it reminds me of the George/Pattie inspired photoshoot with Dhani Harrison and Sasha Pivovarova from last year, which I adore:
Oh, Dhani. I've been distracted by him lately.
I do have a short, faux fur cape that I could throw on in an attempt to copy George's big shaggy coat, but the weather isn't quite there yet!
Oh I can't resist:

With the first lucky Mrs. Harrison, Pattie Boyd
Okay I admit, this post is more of an excuse for pretty pictures of my favorite Beatle and my favorite Beatle offspring than to talk about this new dress. You've seen right through me.

I haven't bought the remastered series yet, but I'm loving Rock Band!! I'm also waiting for Beatles to go on itunes, because I'm a sell out like that, haha
ReplyDeleteI love the print of that dress! Nice editorial, too. Yay for the Beatles :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could keep bangs going like you keep yours. I get so annoyed at it so I end up growing it out.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress too!
Amazing post! A group of people at my school went as the beatles last Halloween, it was pretty amazing!

Your boots are ammaaaaaazing! *_*
ReplyDeleteAlso how is it possible that your hair is SO PERFECT? *_*
You look gorgeous! and hehe, George Harrison looks a bit like Liam Gallagher (!) in those last two pics.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! ♥
ReplyDeleteAngel: Oh god, mine are a constant source of aggravation. I just trimmed them again today- I think they're vaguely straight, haha. Close enough!
Oranges and Apples: He really is. I say George is my fave, but I flit about.. I try not to be too fangirly about them because it makes me feel fourteen and discredits any intense love I have for their music, but sometimes I just can't help it.
Jayne: He DOES, it's crazy! George had seriously strong genes. And I love Dhani even more after knowing that he helped work on Beatles Rock Band! I love that he was best friends with his dad.
Eline: Thank you!! They are my favorite boots, but the toes are so scuffed. And my hair definitely isn't perfect! It gets out of control. ;(
Miss Woo: Thanks! ♥ LOL he actually does sometimes.. although I think he's bitched about George before (but that's not really shocking, hah).
LOVIN IT.

Heehee, brilliant post! I think Dhani Harrison looks very "Almost Famous" in those shots, which can only be A Good Thing. Love your outfit too, pretty perfection!
ReplyDeleteYou look great. I love Sasha channeling the retro vibe too.
ReplyDeletesweet outfit and AWESOME editorial! I need to check that out...Your hair is so cool too- I always wish I could go shorter but I suspect it will turn into an Annie shape if I do...oh well...yay beatles!!!
ReplyDeleteGood Lord, George Harrison is good looking.
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually a fan of bell sleeves, but anything works on you m'dear!
You are so wood nymph here, I loves it! And George is my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteI love that you wore an outfit inspired by George!! That dress is just gorgeous . . . I always assume that I hate hippy/boho (don't you hate that word?) looks, but then those little dresses like that are so perfect and get me every time.
