Just a quick post for recent thrift find flailing purposes:

We found these safari napkins at a flea market a couple of weeks ago and I'm in love with them! I adore how bright they are. We use cloth napkins instead of paper towels (and our current set is fantastic), but now I'm just way too excited to have pretty giraffes and elephants hanging around for dinner. This reminds me that I really need to try stenciling things like pillows and napkins-- I'm sure this kind of thing could be done pretty easily, although not as detailed of course.
The woven bag was thrifted by my mom for the shop but I'm going to have to keep it, at least for a little bit. It's much more my style than my other woven bag, which is lovely but a bit too springy and happy looking for my taste.
(Although it is still for sale in the shop!)

Both the napkin set and woven bag are utterly gasp-worthy! GASSSSSPPPPP.
ReplyDeleteThat napkin set makes me so happy. I think I like the lion and rhino ones the best. What a great find!!
Oh, and it's so neat that your mom thrifts stuff for your shop! All I ever get are questions like "Why would someone wear something so old?" You should know my mother thinks very lowly of my outfits (does that make sense? I figured if one can think highly of something, one can also think lowly of something, right? idk.).
I never really buy non-clothing items from thrift stores. This posts really makes me want to change that and start looking in the tchotchke/housewares section.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great find! I thought you were going to say you bought them on etsy or somewhere kinda pricey.
ReplyDeleteThat bag is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAnd I really need to find some more blank napkins for cheap. I have some that I plan to embroider with bees and beetles, but I'd like more so I don't ever have to use paper.
love the napkins i need to find some flea markets in my area
ReplyDeleteHMIGOD THE NAPKINS! They are simply SO PERFECT :D. I'm going to learn upcoming year how to print those! I really can't wait till school starts just for that course! XD SO MANY OPTIONS :D
ReplyDeleteDiane: Me too! I love the giraffes and the rhinos. ^.^ And haha, I understand completely! I'm kind of lucky in that respect though because thrifting seems to be the main thing my mom and I have bonded over. I mean we get along pretty well and everything, but this is really the only activity we do together. She was excited about the shop because it meant she could buy stuff without feeling too guilty about it!
ReplyDeleteIsabel: Oh you really should! Most of our apartment is decorated with stuff I thrifted at some point. You can find some weird/excellent things that just need a different context to look great in.
Diana: Oh I know, they look like something from Etsy! I was so surprised that they were in such great condition.
dearilou: I JUST found a few plain green napkins the other day.. I really want to try embroidering, but I think I'd be too scared to use them after I worked so hard, haha.
The Fancy Lady: Yes! I love random finds like this.
Eline: Ahh that's awesome! I always wanted to take a screenprinting course, that's so exciting!
Those napkins are amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find with the napkins! I would probably just frame them, haha! I have a similar bag from my grandmother from the 1940's .. maybe yours is the same era?
