Blue, blue, electric blue

I am in love with this wig, it gives me this crazy wonderful mermaid confidence!

I got it in the mail on Monday and immediately looked up Gala Darling's How to Rock a Wig and baby powdered the heck out of it to combat the shininess. It's not insanely amazing quality or anything, but it's good enough and I'm super happy with it! I've been dying to take pictures all week but it's been so rainy.

'60s girl scout dress, F21 shoes, Target socks, '60s flower brooch worn as a hair clip because apparently I have no hair accessories. Rose ring from New Orleans!

In college I used to change my hair constantly: I've been light pink, blue, turquoise, magenta, and then a light purple which somehow promptly faded to hot pink. After that, I shaved it all off to 1 1/4" and dyed it black. Then I started growing out the bob, which I've had for about a year and a half now (which is a long time for me!) I adore my current hair and am happy that I've found something I want to stick with, but it still gets boring. Thus, wigs!

And now I want MORE. A pink one, something short and white-blonde, a long blonde one for my Luna Lovegood costume... It's very neat how dramatically different you can look just by changing your hair-- although I used to have long red hair in this exact cut and length, so really it just brings back memories of hair constantly falling into my eyes!

  2. Yes I've thought for a while too that you look like Gala! This wig is so cute though, it makes me want to get one although I'm not sure I'd have the guts to wear a wild colour out of the house.

  3. That's very becoming! I know what you mean, I always consider wigs when I go into one crazy vintage store near here, but I've never tried one. Maybe I will now:)

I cannot wait to see your Luna Lovegood costume!

  9. I LOVE it. I ust let my daughter dye her ends blue but it fades out so quick to an unflattering gray, maybe a wig is a great option for her. If only I were younger....it would be pink for me.

  10. Yes, I agree with everybody here who has stated that you bear a striking resemblance to Gala Darling with your blue wig! Of course, that is a very very good thing.

I say that you should go for more wigs! I'd love to see what else you acquire because I'm sure you'd look great with different colored cuts. I must say that I'm a little jealous that you can pull off such a bold color!

  16. You know I really really want a blue wig now. It looks incredible on you. Almost like the blue hair was natural. I also think you would look lovely in a Luna Lovegood style wig.

  18. Ahaha thanks so much guys!! ♥ ♥ I promise I'm not single white femaling her or anything, I know our faces are kinda similar and the blue hair pushes it over the edge! It's a huge compliment though, I adore her!

When my hair was (actually) blue before it was quite short, so I've always wanted really long, bright blue hair. I highly recommend trying out a wig just to see how it looks! I have to admit I love it much more than the bleaching and dying process.

Mars: It's from ebay and was only $25! I was going to order from amphigory.com, but then strawberrykoi mentioned that she got her pink one on ebay so I thought I would give that a try. It is absolutely fantastic for the price.

Lesa: I don't know what kind of dye she used, but Special Effects is the absolute best and longest lasting! And make sure to bleach the ends first. I used to use Blue Velvet, and it always just faded to purple. ^.^

  25. Talking about your "mermaid confidence" reminds me so much of FLB. That's something she would write.
