Being on a super-budget at the moment doesn't stop me from making googly eyes at yummy bright summery things. So of course I do the logical thing and make a post about what I want right now (because looking at it constantly is going to be really good for my already poor self-restraint, sure).
More floofy, high-waisted skirts: I only have two! The mushroom skirt from the post below, and the black one from the New Orleans post (which I got from my first ever H&M visit in Atlanta-- I expected it to be full of gorgeous goodness, but alas! I don't know if the Atlanta store is just less-than-great or if I went on an off week, but fellow bloggers are always wearing amazing things from H&M and I was left unimpressed. Sadness!) Teal/turquoise is my second favorite color (after green) and so I obviously need a skirt like this. The fact that it also comes in pink and yellow is really not helping.
The perfect black booties & something tall and strappy (or lacey, I suppose): I can't help loving booties, despite the trendiness. I'm not crazy about the name, but the shoes themselves are quite lovely (although booties is better than "shooties," which is just ridiculous and should never be used). I've been on the search for the perfect pair for months and months, and I think I've finally found them with Jeffrey Campbell. And for the full effect of the second pair you have to see them folded down and in action, a la Nubby Twiglet. Covet covet covet.
Bright nail polish: Right now my nails are Teal the Cows Come Home with silver glitter on top. They remind me of cotton candy! I don't know why I'm suddenly into nail color as much as I am, but I'm fairly convinced that I need a really bright, hot pink color for the summer. Even though it's called "That's Hot! Pink." Horrible name.

I got that skirt in the mail yesterday! I had a hard time deciding on the color too. I love it though.
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the nail polish. Such a nice yellow.
I know what you mean...I've been really diggin' the high-waisted, shorter, flowy shirts too lately. Something about summer, I guess:) I'll have to check out my local Forever 21 soon. Great nail polish colors too....I love the yellow.
ReplyDeleteI was disapointed the last time I went to H&M too. I went my first time ever in 2004 when I was in New York (Seattle not posessing it's own chain then) and was so thrilled! I still have almost all of what I bought on that trip. The second time, last year... bleh. Just blah. Lots of 80's inspired, bright, hip hoppy, I don't know what. Things I did not dig. I got a great coat, but I wasn't even interested in anything else. Plus, I think the prices went up between trips.
ReplyDeleteHm, I've been wanting to pant my nails 10 different colors lately, although idk if that's just tacky, haha. I loove the skirt, I need some more poofy in my life!
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt and nailpolish! It's just the right amount of neon, without being, um, like a walking migraine! You know?
ReplyDeleteALSO, this is fresh on my mind mostly because I just watched it, but have you given Pushing Daisies a try? [I'm still pimping it out to people even though it's been canceled, haha. :/ me.] It's generally all-sensory-happy-making, and I think you'd love it, for million reasons, but especially so for the outfits. Swoon worthy like crazy.
I really like that skirt!
ReplyDeleteAccording to some friends who emirated to New York a year ago, H&M is very different between the US and europe, the american stores apparently carry much less stock.
But actually, I've one off h&m in a big way. When I was a teenager, I bought all my clothes from there, and I still have many of the things I bought then. But that would never be possible now, because they've started skimping on fabric and finish big time, and much of the stuff you can buy now won't last a year, let alone ten years!
The skirt and the nail-polish = amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog darling!
Love love that bright cheery skirt!
ReplyDeletethe problem with h&m just is that some pieces (most times the really gorgeous ones) are just available in certain countries (so the swedish bloggers always got the absolutely best by h&m). here in germany everyone wears h&m, it's horrible, cause the real cool stuff you can't get here :-(
ReplyDeleteAah, I'm in love with the skirt and the first pair of shoes! And I love the word "floofy."
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on H&M. When they first opened one in San Jose, I thought I was going to find amazing things because I always see such wonderful pieces on other bloggers but it was kinda meh. I've found some pieces here and there that I really like but these finds are occasional and not common. Gosh darn the blogosphere and its deceptive influences!
Lovely blog! The skirt is wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteI just got some bubblegum pink polish for summer and those are my favorite type of skirts!
ReplyDeleteForever 21 skirts = win. That one is super cute!
ReplyDeleteI love H&M, but lately... not sao much :( I hope they go back to what the used to be like.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm tagged you on my blog :P lol
love your blog! just found it and cannot wait to read more! would you like to trade links?
ReplyDeletebtw love those shoes, jeffrey campell makes great shoes
yellow most definitely, its my favorite color
Those Jeffrey Campbell lace ups are brilliant...
ReplyDeleteoh yes love the skirt! i found h&m late and i guess i missed out cause i dont see what the fuss is but apperantely it was better in past years (isnt that just my luck!)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the H&M opinions, guys! Now I don't feel as unlucky. :)
ReplyDeleteMermaid: Ahh you need to take a picture of it soon! I just gave in and bought it, I have such awful willpower.
dearilou: I must have went during one of those blah times, which sucks because who knows when I'll be able to go back to Atlanta. They really need to set up an online shop.
Phoebe: AW YES! I've been watching it since it first started and was so sad about the stupid cancellation. I love the whole style of it, especially the aunts and their huge weird house!
Jane: That's true, the Swedish bloggers always have such AMAZING things, it's not fair at all!
Diane: See I bet that's what it is, you probably have to go often to find the hidden fantastic bits, which of course I can't do!
your answers are much better than mine.
ReplyDeleteespecially the one about gardening! how did i not think of that when i was answering??! where we are living the soil is awful and there's no space anyway so we're growing everything possible in pots, inside and out. i'm super excited about my basil seedlings, they're getting huge!
x
oh yes ps AWESOME YELLOW NAILPOLISH!
i have that opi yellow nail polish! i love it and i totally recommend it.
ReplyDeleteyou have great taste! i love the booties!
Hi, I just discovered your blog. Way cute! Ummm, I realize that I'm late on the H&M discussion, but I've only ever found a few random pieces at a time. It's the kind of store that replaces its stock often, and they try to cater to all styles...they don't really focus on the quality of the clothes, so much as the quantity. I actually wouldn't give up on the store. When ever I can I go (living in the middle of nowhere, that is rare) and do a very brief intake of the stock. It's worth it. I've found great stuff there.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Oooh, great finds. I adore poofy skirts and neon nails.
