I feel kind of ballerina-ish in this outfit.
A few weeks ago I entered a little contest on Gala Darling's site (I love her, and every photo she takes makes me miss my pink/blue/turquoise hair days) and I actually WON! I never win anything so I was flailing all over the place about it. The contest was for a necklace from Aroha Silhouettes, which are so neat and different and made from recycled vinyl records. Fittingly, Gala's contest was to comment with your favorite album and describe why you love it so much. It's incredibly hard for me to pick favorites of things (so indecisive!), but I chose Abbey Road by The Beatles because I tend to get into moods in which I loop it obsessively.. that's true with other albums too, of course, but The Beatles are always at the top of any list for me. It's followed closely by Bowie's Ziggy album, although again, it's way too hard to pick a favorite from him too.
It was so exciting, and thank you again Tania and Gala! I could choose anything from the Phantasmal collection, and I picked the Mini Hardcover-- a stack of books, yay! Very appropriate for a future librarian.
Speaking of school (sort of), I have a big paper due at the end of the week that I haven't started yet. Argh. I've been procrastinating like mad, which I'm not really a fan of, but ugh I just don't want to get started. So I will probably be MIA until at least after Friday. Funnily enough, my paper calls for me to describe an information behavior from my life and then analyze and interpret it using the appropriate models/theories/paradigms.. and I've picked doing my blog rounds on Google Reader in the morning, haha. I like library school very much, but as a former English Lit major... I really miss writing about books.
ps: I've been responding to comments in my comments, but maybe I should go to each person's blog to comment back? Ahh I don't know, I haven't worked out a system yet! I'm used to livejournal where you reply directly and then get an email notification.

the tights are very cute! and i love the necklace.
ReplyDeleteI love that necklace!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you posted! Where are you going to library school? My husband and I are both librarians!
I love the outfit, especially the necklace. I, too, am an aspiring librarian. Oh, and those polka dot tights are super cute!
ReplyDeleteHoly frijole the whole shebang is super cute of course but the necklace is sooooo rad. Wow.
ReplyDeleteOh I have a skirt likethat too, I don't care if it's getting close to it's last legs, I still wear it constantly. Love that necklace, great prize. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen the page first loaded, I though the necklace was a tattoo. Whew, that would be painful and permanent. It's gorgeous, especially on you of course.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit, it's so airy and pretty but grounded! Fabulous and gorgeous :D And that necklace is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI try to respond to comments in my comments, it just seems better if I want to go back and read entries and their comments later :)
Yipeee, I'm so happy you love your new necklace!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous on you!
Just wanted to stop by and say I love your style! As someone who sort of works in the library profession (studied to be one!), I think its great that we are going against the typical librarian stereotype! Although I still LOVE LOVE LOVE my black cardigans.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours - so classic - you look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI just adore you blog. seriously! :D
ReplyDeleteI though this necklace was a tattoo at first, but i'm even more excited now that I may be able to get one of these necklaces!
When I first visited your blog last week I remember thinking how much you reminded me of Gala!
I would love to see pictures from your technicolour hair days on this blog!
I can't wear pastels without constantly being afraid of looking like a sweet lolita gone bad Oo. But you look absolutely amazing in them, as always.
ReplyDeleteI love those tights! And that necklace is amazing! Must check their jewelry out.
ReplyDeleteI thought the necklace was a tattoo for a minute...would be a cool tattoo, but still an awesome necklace
ReplyDeletegreat outfit! that necklcae is great too, i never win any giveaways on blogs yet i am always entering them :(
ReplyDeleteI adore that necklace!! Like cras4, I thought it was a tattoo at first, too.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so lovely and I loovvee that skirt.
How's library school in Florida? In San Jose, it's pretty much all online and I don't really like not meeting all of my classmates and professors. It just feels like I'm (er..my dad) paying hordes of money to teach myself, y'know?
PS. Good luck on your paper! Being sick sure puts a toll on my motivation to work on mine...
ReplyDeleteL: Thank you! I forgot all about those tights-- I was so excited when I found them in the abyss that is my tights drawer. Yay dots!
ReplyDeleteDiana: Yay thanks! :D I'm in Florida State's distance learning program (I'm in NC). And ahh that is so awesome! I'm discovering so many librarians/library students in the fashion blogging community and it's so surprising and fantastic. But then I don't know why I'm surprised.. they seem to fit together so well in a weird kind of way.
kittyscreations: Thank you! That is so lovely.. the next generation of librarians are going to be so stylish and fun. This is just nutso (in a great way) how many fellow librarians are around here! :D
Mike: Thanks so much! :) It's such a fun necklace.. all optical-illusiony.
Eyeliah: Oh how fantastic! Yeah it used to be way past my knees and I realized that I had stopped wearing it as much, so I cut off a chunk of it and now I wear it so much more. It is honestly falling apart though-- the zipper needs replacing and I have to hand wash it for fear of it falling apart, but I will wear it until the end of its life.
Stephanie: Haha! I was so surprised by the people who thought it was a tattoo, I honestly did not even think of that. But looking at it.. yes, I can totally see it. Oops. And thanks! :)
kater: Aww thank you so much!! :D You are so so sweet. And yeah that's what I was thinking too.. there really should be a direct reply feature.
Aroha Silhouettes: YAY! :D I love it to death, I have gotten so many compliments from everyone that has seen it. :)
Lien: Oh gosh thank you, and YAY for stylish librarians!! From the library students I've encountered so far, I think we're well on our way to getting rid of that stereotype. Or at least jazzing it up a bit. I wear so many cardigans too, I would never ever give them up! And if I wore glasses I would keep them too, I just love how they look.
Jordan: Thank you so much!! :)
Ayesha: Aww yay I'm glad you like it, thank you a bunch! You should definitely get one, she has them in blue and red too which looks awesome. And ahh thanks, being compared to Gala is a lovely compliment! :D I'll have to get up the nerve to post old photos.. most of them aren't (too) embarrassing, but they definitely make me miss my old hair.
Dear Mrs. E: Haha! I very rarely wear pastel-y type things, but now I really want to give them more attention. Thank you! :) :)
Amber: Thanks! You must.. I'm always looking for interesting necklaces (I have a necklace obsession) and hers are very fun!
Helen: Yay thanks! I normally never win either, and I love to enter random things.. my husband always has the best luck with things like that, it's so weird and unfair.
Diane: Thank you darling!! :D The tattoo thing is so funny-- it's totally obvious to me now, but I so didn't even notice it looked like that! FSU is entirely online. On one hand I like it because I'm good at organizing assignments and doing things on my own and such, but then again I miss university so bad.. the act of going to class in the morning and sitting in a classroom and meeting students and professors, that kind of thing. :/ When I was trying to decide what to specialize in, that's what helped push me towards academic librarianship-- I really just want to be on a campus again, haha. I just love/miss that whole vibe. Good luck with your papers too!! Being sick and having things due is the worst feeling ever.
First of all, a friend just pointed me to your blog and I'm so glad to find someone who .is as into books and vintage as I am; yay!
ReplyDeleteSecond of all, that necklace is adorable and so are you! I'd give my pinky toes to have straight enough hair for a bob like yours. But then I wouldn't be able to walk. Maybe I should rethink that.
Lastly, I'm adding you to my blogroll and I just thought you should know. Keep up the good work!
GAH! srsly girl! Stop being a cuter version of me!
ReplyDeleteI totally have the same necklace w/ a phonograph player graphic instead of the books.... but im thinking maybe I need to bounce back to Etsy for a new one... hmmm..
